Why The Dolphins Fans Are #15 On Facebook takes me back to “The good old days”…

…and that’s the problem.

Having back – back – back Super Bowl appearances from 1971 – 1973 (they won the last two), and then two losses in ’82 & 84 just isn’t enough payback to fans who are this faithful. When I searched Facebook for the Miami Dolphins Fans Pages, I recall that there are more Phins Fans with fan pages than any other team.

Then, after I set up the Dolphins News Feed, I notice that more news comes in every hour on the hour for the Dolphins Fans than almost every other team! It’s obvious that there is plenty of excitement surrounding the team, and I think the fans are way past due for some playoff wins!

Come On Guys!” There are just so many references to ‘the perfect season’ that one can handle, before the ‘What have you done for me lately’ syndrome sets in.

After 26 years with HC Don Shula, Miami has gone through 8 Head Coaches in 18 years (Bates & Bowles were temporaries) looking for some magic. Jimmy Johnson got them into the playoffs 3 out of his four years, and Dave Wannsted added two more but that ended in 2001.

It’s been 12 years since, and with just one playoff appearance Miami Dolphins fans should be revolting, but the faithful still have the Dolphins ranked in the top half of the NFL in Facebook popularity.

Can Joe Philbin right the ship? It’s been two tough years so far. Philbin’s first draft class (2012) saw nothing but spot duty last year, so it makes me wonder if he just likes to bring these guys along slowly or what?

I’d hope that at least two players from this years draft (actually every draft) claim a starting role, and that two or three from last years class step up. That has to happen for this team to take a turn toward consistent winning seasons. Miami has typically allowed a HC 4 years to work their magic, but if it isn’t happening heads roll.

Perhaps the much talked about ‘locker room’ issues are now a thing of the past, and Joe Philbin will turn into the next Don Shula. The Dolphins Fans deserve that kind of break THIS YEAR!
