The ‘beginning interview’ section on this seminar is hilarious,
so you must not skip it whatever you do.
We found out that the 3 angels messages is a lot more than;
A warning about the judgment;
Watch out for Babylon,
& Beware of the Beast.
It’s a whole lot more about Jesus than anything else.
Now on to the ‘mystical’ Babylon.
Let’s break it down.
If Babylon has succeeded in making ALL nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, then logic seems to dictate that the Babylon referred to here must represent something other than a certain religious denomination.
All nations includes all religious groups.
Buddhism, Islam, Christianity, Atheism,
Catholicism, Paganism, Satanism, etc.
So how did Babylon make them all drink?
What does Babylon represent here?
If Babylon is a religious group
how could it possibly affect a country like N. Korea?
That nation’s government forbids religion of any kind last I heard!
We need to find out what the relevance is.
What is the influence that affects all nations?
SDA’s along with other protestant denominations have identified the Beast of Revelation as the Catholic Pope. But Lee is telling us that there is another “false principle” that encircles the globe and has absolutely no ethnic, religious or political boundaries.
It is a universal principle that doesn’t require a beast to exist.
Babylon goes all the way back to the tower of Babel. You can see on the page capture from Google Earth above. The red marker is within the ruins of ancient Babylon & the Tower is out of the picture to the Right but I’ve included it below.
There are two areas to the left of the red marker. Saddam Hussein attempted to defy God by starting to rebuild Babylon. The Circular section to the far left is the palace & in the center was a section of the old city he had begun to build. We all know what happens to man when he defies God. I’ll include some photos.
The Palace on the hill, and a section of the city below.
Below, the walls have actually begun to crack and crumble and remind me
of the song about the foolish man building his house upon the sand!
Below is the view from the palace. The man wasted millions of dollars on this ill-advised restoration project before the United States of America took him down.
The Marduk gate, Procession street, The Ishtar gate,
The Palace of Nebuchadnezzar/ooops–Sadam, The rebuilt Greek Theater,
The Tower of Babylon site, and a number of museums
are all within a half mile radius mixed in with the ruins.
Babel is also the root word from which we get the word babble and babbling, meaning, “a confused mixture of extraneous sounds.” Confusion!
This is the area that is believed to be the location of the original
Tower of Babel & has a footprint of 1,200 ft. across the base.
Nimrod is a great grandson of Noah, grandson of Ham & son of Cush. You may remember the story of Ham that resulted in him receiving a curse from his father Noah. It’s no wonder that Ham’s disrespectful nature would rub off on his sons and grandsons. “What a ham!” Making fun of his naked father.
Nimrod the mighty hunter, ruled over the countryside he chose to live in, and he commissioned & built the early settlement of Babylon which became known as Babel. He obviously did not trust God or he wouldn’t have begun to build the Tower thinking he could build higher than God could flood.
Even though God had promised that He would never do it again, and even though the rainbows reminded man of that promise, Nimrod refused to trust God. He obviously didn’t have a relationship going with God back then, and most likely it’s because his grandpa Ham, and father Cush didn’t either.
Building the tower was he and his followers making this statement;
We don’t need God. We can save ourselves!
God has never been pleased with mans efforts to save themselves.
God has never been pleased with man’s self worship!
Ge 11:7 “Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one an others speech.”
8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they ceased building the city.
So God created a slew of languages that differed from one another so distinctly that it created a babbling sound, an incoherent mixture of voices. Imagine what it would be like standing in a room with 100 people all speaking a different language at the same time even though they are all saying the same thing. This was the first time (of three) that the building of a city on that spot was canceled.
Side Note: I always wondered where in the world all these people came from to build this tower. Let’s take a quick look at the genealogy after the flood & see if we can find out. Shem was born two years after the flood & was 100 years old when his BRS (Birth Right Son, or 1st son) Arphaxad was born. [Ge 11:10]
So we can see that Peleg was born 131 years after the flood. Now here is where it gets a bit fuzzy.
Ge 10:25 To Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg, for in his days the earth was divided; and his brother’s name was Joktan.
It doesn’t say exactly when in his days that it happened, so I’m going to take a guess that it was right in the middle of “His Days”. Let’s take the 131 years, and add 120 years (½ of the 239 years he lived) to that and we have roughly 250 years. So if we want to do this the easy way we can simply compare it to Israel in Egypt.
Ge 46:27 …All the persons of the house of Jacob who went to Egypt were seventy.
So, the group that went down into Egypt was 70 souls. We know that they were in Egypt for 400 years and at the time they left Egypt there were 600 thousand men, not counting women & children. God blessed them and multiplied them.
I think that we can get a good idea of the people available to build these cities that Nimrod built, and he built a bunch.
Now here is the premise; The ‘seventy souls’ included men, women & children, were a lot more than the 8 after the flood, so I’m going to subtract 50 years off of the 250 years that took us to the middle of Peleg’s life. I’m assuming that, with God’s blessing, within 50 years after the flood there were 70 souls.
Noah’s three sons ended up having 16 sons total and we don’t know how many daughters, but I’m guessing that they had more daughters then Sons by God’s design so that the men could have more than one wife and could multiply faster, but again, that’s just a hunch on my part.
Ge 10:2 The sons of Japheth were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras. 6 The sons of Ham were Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan. 22 The sons of Shem were Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud, and Aram.
What I wish is that there had been a record of all the Great grandsons of Noah because that would have helped a lot. There is only a partial record of the ones who played significant rolls. That’s why so many of Hams decedents were listed since they became the enemies of Israel.
When we continue on to one more generation, to the grandsons of Noah’s three sons, we find that Shem’s great, great grandson Joktan had 13 sons, so how many wives did he have and how many daughters? I suppose he didn’t need but one wife since men were living about 400 years at that time. I just can’t imagine women wanting to give birth to 30 children!
I figure that there could have been roughly 2 – 300 thousand people on the planet at the time of the building of the Tower. Certainly plenty of help, but I rather doubt that everyone was all congregated into one place.
I’m guessing that Shem & his wife were hanging out near Noah in the fertile river basin where Shem’s son Arphaxad is shown in the map below. The Bible history website provides this map that they indicate where it is believed Shem, Ham & Japheth’s decedents settled.
You can see Arphaxad right there in the middle of the prime dark green land. The map below provides a color coded version. Shem’s decedents are purple.
The map below shows the Ur of the Chaldea where Abram traveled from to the Promised land. http://www.bible-history.com/ has some great maps and pictorial aids for use when illustrating the Bible’s stories to any age group.
Okay, now we leave the side trip & get back to the rest of Lee’s story!
We find throughout history that all of man’s attempts to save himself always result in confusion. Does Babel & Babylon represent a mixture of confusing ideas? Lee seams to think so, and that it involves more than just saving yourselves in order to get to Heaven.
This confusion results in concepts like the “God helps him who helps himself” philosophy. It’s the idea that God expects you to do this much, and then He’ll do this much and between the two of you you’ll be able to ‘gittirdun’! You just gotta do your part, right?
This is a concept that is even shared by people that don’t believe we are saved by works. These are people who believe in Justification by Faith, and yet they feel like they are still expected to DO something to help God ‘gittirdun’!
For some reason a large group of these people who claim to believe entirely in Justification by Faith, still have a lot of confusion about what happens after they are saved by faith.
They believe we are saved for Heaven by faith, but then after that we must work our tails off to show God that we appreciate what He did. We think we can show Him by working hard to develop a Christlike character ourselves. So, we begin working hard, trying to produce a Christ like character to sanctify ourselves.
After God halted the building on that location, then many years later another mighty man decided to build on that site and called the city Babylon. In 606 BC King Nebuchadnezzar ruled the world, and he had conquered Israel and brought many prisoners back to Babylon. God’s people were in bondage, AGAIN!
In bondage to Babylon. The only thing you need to do to be in bondage is to think that you can live life apart from God. If you think you don’t need God then you are in bondage to sin, self worship. If you think you can do anything good on your own you are mistaken. God working in you is the only way. God doing the work.
God’s people living apart from him. Gods people worshiping other Gods. Gods people thinking they don’t need God. God’s people trying to save themselves. God’s people breaking the very first commandment over and over again.
You can be a captive to the notion that you NEED to do it on your own, or even that you CAN do it on your own. “I can get myself to Heaven”, and/or “I can overcome the imperfections in my life”, are all basically the same thing. They both start with I can.
It’s self worship,
and most of the time
either we don’t realize we’re doing it,
or worse, we believe we are expected to do it.
The problem is that self is still the focal point, instead of God.
What is the key to avoiding it?
That constantly growing, ongoing, daily relationship with our Creator God,
His Son Jesus, and His Holy Spirit within!
Praise God! He’s coming for YOU!
The wedding garment, the robe of Christ’s Righteousness,
woven in the loom of Heaven has NOT ONE THREAD of human devising.
Lest any man should boast!
Almost every false religion is based upon man being able to save himself based on his own efforts. Catholicism has you doing penance, Hail Mary’s etc. to earn your forgiveness. Eastern religions also have their chants designed to bring a oneness with the “higher power”. It is everywhere.
The fact is that we don’t have to be a part of any religious group at all to be dependent totally upon ourselves. It is much easier to be so self centered that we don’t even care about salvation at all. Religion? Who cares!
The problem with the world today isn’t that they are trying to earn their own way into Heaven. The problem is that they could care less about Heaven at all! In this day and age, the self centered human race is so focused inward that they could care less about anything else.
But we’re talking about God’s professed people here. We’re talking about those individuals who DO want to write more than the first chapter in their book of life. We’re talking about those on this planet that want to leave the planet for a 1,000 year vacation with God as the second chapter to a never ending book of life!
Those are the people who want to be certain that they are not blowing it with God. It’s these people who have been taught for many years that the way to avoid eternal destruction is to be connected with the right church. WRONG!
In a week of spiritual emphasis at the school where Lee was teaching, the guest speaker was asked by one of the students, “what can we do to overcome and eliminate our faults and failures?” The speaker drew a graph like this one on the black board.
He said, “As you can see, the top of the graph is 100% and at the bottom is zero and the graph represents us overcoming our bad habits. Now man is at the bottom putting forth every bit of effort he can, and wherever he ends up then God does the rest.”
He continued, “Since everyone’s different, some will be able to do more than others, but we all must do the absolute best that we can, and then God will supply the rest of the power to overcome.” Then he said, “God helps those who help themselves”. He actually said that!
Well guess what!
That IS NOT a teaching from the Bible at all.
As a mater of fact it is exactly the opposite of what the Bible teaches.
The quote “God helps him who helps himself” is actually a line from the book ‘Poor Richards Almanac’ written by Benjamin Franklin,
but it became so popular Christians began to believe it!
The futility and ridiculousness of this false teaching has been destroying our church members young and old. It has been driving them out of the church for many years, and I know it is true from personal experience.
I have also experienced the exact opposite of this teaching. I’ve experience the truth! I failed miserably for years and finally gave up on a religion that seemed to require the impossible. Then I learned the truth about who is doing the work, and lo and behold, I quit trying and have been watching God work ever since.
I’m retired from fighting sins folks. I quit trying to do any of it at all, and God has eliminated, and keeps eliminating things all the time. I’m not even going to go into all of it because I just feel like it’s just focusing on the wrong things, but I will tell you this.
When you totally stop trying to overcome anything in your life, and absolutely ALL that you do is focus and concentrate on becoming closer to God in your mutual friendship daily, then here’s what will happen.
You will suddenly realize one day that you haven’t done something in a very long time, something that you used to do constantly, and you just realize you hadn’t even missed it. You’ll be amazed, and then all of a sudden you will do it again.
Then is when you will laugh at it and say to God. “I see what you did there, and I see what the devil did there too. Now I’m just going to go back to ignoring that thing because I now know that you are in control. I know for a certainty that you are taking care of all this for me.
Trust me when I tell you that it works!
The power of God working in your life is ALL that works.
NOTHING ELSE WORKS.
Pick a car. Any car. Go ahead. You can have it for no down payment! Are you interested, Or do you want to know what the monthly payments are? What if they are 4 grand per month for the rest of your life? Are you interested now?
Lee gave us a great parable here showing the difference between Justification, [the down payment] & Sanctification [the monthly payment]. If it isn’t all free, then I can’t afford it!
@25:30 Lee tells about his dog he got for a gift.
It will be that way in your Christian experience if you fail to understand the truth.
You will love the incredible elation that you will feel when you realize that the free gift of forgiveness and justification from your sinful life has been bought and paid for by Jesus on the cross.
However, you will be devastated if you are convinced that you have to earn the robe. If you believe the lie, and you believe that YOU actually have to overcome the sins in your life, then you will expend every ounce of effort over and over but will fail miserably. Been there, done that.
Then, before you even realize it, you will have given up on the very thing that would have brought victory in your life. You will have given up on that time you used to love to spend with God, and suddenly you will be right back where you started from, but in worse shape than before. Been there, done that!
Do it yourself religion? No thank you!
Babylon & Babel, represents living life apart from God, pure and simple.
So we are back to the main text with an emphasis on fornication. Who’s in bed with whom here?
Two parties that are not supposed to merge are merging. So who is it?
Theologically there is a form of fornication known as Syncretism.
This term perfectly describes the concept of Salvation partly by faith and partly by works.
You simply cannot have it both ways. The two concepts are mutually exclusive!
Trusting partly to myself and partly to God is spiritual fornication. To try to gain the fruits of a relationship without the relationship is fornication. Trying to gain the fruits of the Spirit without the Spirit is Fornication! What are the fruits of the Spirit? Trying to achieve a Christlike life, Obedience, Patients, Kindness, Long-suffering etc. etc. without a relationship with Christ is partaking in the fornication’s of Babylon.
What happened at Babel? They turned their backs on God. They decided they could save themselves from the penalty of sin! What is sin. Sin is willfully separating yourself from God. Choosing to live life without God. That is sin. Everything we do apart from God IS SIN.
Nebuchadnezzar made the mistake of failing to acknowledge where his power came from, and he was struck down for 7 years. He thought he had done it all on his own, and he was severely humbled. He became the first Hippie. He grew long hair and was on grass! Lol Peace bruthu!
God made certain that Nebuchadnezzar understood where all power came from.
It isn’t about what we do, it’s all about what HE does, and until we give up doing anything then we are failing to have faith in Him. We are in essence saying that we don’t believe He can do it, or we don’t believe He will, even after He has promised that He will. He has promised to Will & to DO His good pleasure in us.
God has removed multiple major addictions from my life that I was never able to escape from, for more than 40 years, and He did it all without any effort on my part whatsoever. I just sat back and watched.
I never attempted to quit any of it.
I just stuck with Him and enjoyed the love and power that He displayed.
I’m not going anywhere unless He takes me there!
Surrender is the toughest battle ever fought!
When you surrender you win!
@46:15 Lee tells a story about his dad going scuba diving.
Who’s works is it talking about here?
Praise God for the amazing works
HE has done in our own lives already!
