Passing Defense: Colts, 231.9 (13th) – Chiefs, 247.6 (25th)
Rushing Defense: Chiefs, 120.2 (21st) – Colts, 125.1 (25th)
This game has some interesting matchups. As the above list shows, the Indianapolis Colts Passing Offense is ranked 17th, against the Kansas City Chiefs Passing Defense ranked 25th. The Chiefs allowed 15 more yards (per game) than Indiana averages, so expect Indiana to “get theirs” through the air.
On the flip side, the Chiefs rank 10th in Rushing Offense, and the Colts rank 25th in Rushing Defense allowing 5 more yards per game than the Chiefs average. Expect the Chiefs to pound the ball for their yards.
In Wildcard Game One 2014, I expect the colts to take care of business at home in a close game. There is little doubt in my mind that Andrew Luck is a better QB under pressure than Alex Smith, so I think that either the Colts or San Diego Chargers will head to Denver to face the Broncos next week.
